Modus fills food deck at £100m Blackpool mall
Retail developer Modus has added three new food operators to its Houndshill shopping centre in Blackpool, with the final units being taken by O'Briens, Le Petit Four Francais and Thaina Noodle Bar.
The refurbished and extended 400,000 sq ft Houndshill opened in August with more than 90% of space pre-let overall.
Modus said 55,000 shoppers visited on its first day of reopening on 21 August. Houndshill is anchored by Debenhams, with Jane Norman, River Island, Next, New Look and H&M alongside. The latest retailers to sign are entertainment chain Zavvi, formerly Virgin, taking 6,000 sq ft and Diamond & Pearls, 1,233 sq ft.
Nigel Poad, leasing director, Modus, commented: "To have such a high percentage of the scheme pre-let is a great position to be in particularly in the current market, which demonstrates the strength of Blackpool and Houndshill as a prime retail destination. We have terms agreed in respect of a further two units which we hope to be able to announce very soon."
On Saturday, 6 September, Modus is throwing an opening party for local people with Radio Wave 96.5 live at the centre, as well as family entertainment from 12noon, an urban beach and celebrities including Natasha Hamilton from Atomic Kitten performing live on stage.
Agents for the scheme are Savills, Lunson Mitchenall and Keenan & Co.
