MMU signs lease at Bridgewater House
Manchester Metropolitan University has agreed a 10-year lease to occupy 17,000 sq ft at the grade two-listed Bridgewater House on Whitworth Street, with the building now fully let.
Under the deal, the university will take 12,100 sq ft of space on the seventh floor and 5,200 sq ft on the eighth floor.
INTO, a company that specialises in setting up joint ventures with universities, has also taken 5,100 sq ft in the building.
The 213,000 sq ft Bridgewater House underwent a £1m refurbishment in 2018 by Manchester-based Cube Architecture & Design.
Peter Owen, senior asset manager at APAM, an agent for Britannia Invest, an investment company for Danish pension funds that owns the building, said: “This completes the revitalisation of a tired building. By carefully curating the refurbishment works, the team has moved rents from the mid-teens to a new headline of £23.50/sq ft.”
