MIPIM | Rochdale: Co-operative by nature, pioneering by design
Mark Robinson, director of economy and place at Rochdale Council, and Richard Jones, Northern Cities Executive at Arcadis, discuss two major developments in the borough of Rochdale.
Atom Valley is Greater Manchester’s game‑changing Mayoral Development Zone, a 17m sq ft innovation cluster across Rochdale, Bury, and Oldham, delivering 20,000 high‑quality jobs, 7,000 new homes, and a £300m annual economic boost by uniting world‑class research, advanced manufacturing, sustainable materials and cutting‑edge technology in a brilliantly connected location, with flagship developments like the Sustainable Materials and Manufacturing Centre driving a greener, fairer, more prosperous future for the North.
Station Gardens is a major regeneration-led housing development being built on a long‑vacant brownfield site near Drake Street, right by Rochdale Railway Station. The project forms a key part of Rochdale Council’s rail corridor strategy, which aims to regenerate areas around all five borough railway stations with new housing, public realm improvements, and community assets.
