MIPIM: Cook takes top UK post

Dan Cook has been appointed director for the UK and Ireland built environment markets at RX Global, the company that organises MIPIM and MAPIC.

Cook is a former chief executive of the Landscape Institute and had previously been the director of strategy and planning at the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors.

In his new role, Cook will be promoting both the international property conference MIPIM and the global retail real estate show MAPIC. MAPIC will take place 28-30 November, while MIPIM is set during 12-15 March. Both events take place in Cannes and boast thousands of visitors and exhibitors.

Last year, RX clocked MIPIM attendance at 22,500. The organiser hopes to grow that number even more in 2024 and will be welcoming delegations from Vietnam and Malaysia for the first time.

“It’s a really exciting time to be joining the team behind the most important events on the real estate calendar,” Cook said.

“At MIPIM and MAPIC I hope to lead the way by sharing insight, future trends, and highlighting best practice, as we seek new ways to address the biggest issues facing global cities,” he continued.

“There is a fantastic opportunity to build on the success of MIPIM 2023 for the UK and Irish markets to create new collaborative partnerships, particularly between the public and private sector, whilst helping to connect those seeking to work together to build their businesses.”

Filippo Rean, the managing director of RX Global’s RX France division, described Cook’s appointment as “an exciting chapter in the growth and development of MIPIM and MAPIC”.

“His passion for the future of cities and his extensive international experience make him exceptionally well-suited to connect cities, regions, governments, third-sector organizations, and industry leaders within the built environment, investment, and professional services sectors,” Rean said.
