MCR wins on second attempt in Altrincham

MCR Property Group has been granted planning consent for an apartment and townhouse scheme on Wharf Road, revised after being rejected against officer recommendations last year.

The developer had previously put forward proposals for 99 apartments on a site off Wharf Road, split between blocks ranging between three and nine storeys in height.

After its rejection, MCR changed the scheme to 49 homes, with two-to-five-storey blocks made up of 44 units, alongside five three-bedroom townhouses.

There will be 57 on-site car parking spaces for residents, including five electric vehicle charging points, five accessible spaces and eight for visitors, as well as secure storage for 50 bicycles.

“We have worked with our project partners throughout to create a development that will bring much-needed, new-build homes to Altrincham in a way that is sympathetic to the whole community. We’re confident this development will inject further life into this desirable canalside location.”

The architect is Leach Rhodes Walker, while Savills advised on planning and Enzygo on transport and ecology.
