McDonald’s puts forward Cheadle Hulme plans
The fast-food chain has submitted a planning application to construct a 4,000 sq ft restaurant on a vacant plot of land at Stanley Green Retail Park.
Subject to planning approval, McDonald’s would join B&Q, TK Maxx, Halfords, HomeSense, and Costa Coffee at the Cheadle Hulme retail complex.
Another company that trades out of Stanley Green, Que Delicia, took to Facebook earlier this year to slam McDonald’s’ “horrific proposal” after the fast-food behemoth launched a consultation on the proposals.
Plans to redevelop the 2.2-acre plot date back more than 20 years. In 2000, Stockport Council refused Hercules Property UK permission for a restaurant on the site.
Fifteen years later, the council once again rejected plans for a restaurant, this time from M&G Real Estate.
However, this refusal was overturned at appeal, establishing the principle of a restaurant on the site.
Lichfields is advising McDonald’s on its plans.
To learn more about the plans, search for application reference DC/088368 on Stockport Council’s planning portal.
Looks like a great place to raise kids

perfect location for a drive-thru…getting in would be easy enough but peak time traffic for exiting would be a nightmare…would be interesting to see what the traffic report says

I feel bad for the people living in the homes currently on this site. Looks like they will back directly onto the proposed McDonalds. Must be awful living there already. But really I wish we were able to move beyond this kind of car-dependant urbanism where you drive to a big retail park to shop and eat. This should be phased out not increased.

As a current resident of the land next to the roundabout, I really do not want this to go ahead. The traffic around this area is horrendous as it is. It’s going to become more dangerous around the roads too not to mention more litter around our streets.

Anonymous just doesn’t want a McDs lol

Not opposing McDonalds but wrong place .
Put next to the Next outlet not on the main road at a very busy junction.

Perfect location, will be quick and easy to get in and out and the area could do with a Maccy Ds!
By MC
Perfect location no other fast food for miles around.
By TM
No ‘turn left’ signs shown at McDs car park exit, on site plan.

It will cause traffic chaos on an already very busy roundabout. The traffic light sequences for vehicles crossing the bypass from the trading estate towards Cheadle Hulme are already inadequate and that will only worsen if the site is developed into a McDonald’s.

Its disappointing to hear of the McDonald’s application for Cheadle Hulne/Heald Green area. Heald Green has been subjected to applications that have been opposed by so many of the residents taking place. We have had our green spaces eroded away over the years. The traffic problems have increased along with distrepect for safe parking rules causing chaos at times. This application will be another added problem to this situation and cause a further problem of unwanted rubbish from the take out service.

Ludicrous proposal! There is an Industrial estate promptly behind use it rather than having a child lose there life running from St James school across a bypass where there is serious accident a week. Its a corner where the cars just don’t get the traffic lanes they will speed up and realise they have missed the large signage that says Stanley Green and cut right across into the far lane. Not the best idea Stockport Council.

I have no issue with McDonalds or any other fast food outlet, but access to and egress from this site will cause traffic issues.
This is already a very busy junction and the proposal will risk traffic queuing back to the A34 waiting to access the site. Exit from the B&Q trading estate car park onto Earl Road is already difficult at weekends with traffic backing up waiting to turn right onto the B5094 and then queuing to access the A34 (not helped by poor phasing at the light controlled junction). Adding drive-through traffic to the mix will make getting in and out of the site and accessing other businesses on the trading estate the other side of Earl Road a nightmare.

Great to see more McDonalds being developed. This is a much needed local service and will be welcomed by the majority of residents in the area.

The planned site for McDonald’s Isn’t on Stanley green retail park look at the map! if it was it wouldn’t be an issue ! Instead it’s backing onto a set of peaceful Victorian cottages and adjacent to an accident black spot ! Plenty of other places it could be situated within the vicinity and it not impact on the life of local residents and their current relatively
Peaceful existence . Only a matter of time before there are fatalities on this section of road if it goes there Stockport council take heed and no I am not a local resident I just know how I would feel in the same situation!

I currently own a property here and welcome the new plans for a McDonalds behind my property as there isn’t many fast food places for our row of terraces. This will appeal to current and future tenants alike and can only be a selling point in my eyes. Not gonna lie.. huge fan of burgers myself as everybody knows lol

No to McDonalds. Excessive traffic problems. Dangers for pedestrians. Litter and food dropped. Vermin will really like this.!! Enough drive throughs. Plenty of takeaways and restaurants in this area.

I would like to see McDonald’s in Cheadle Hulme Stanley green

Nightmare!! The bypass is bad enough with increasing number of fast noisy screeching, exhaust popping cars driven by mindless people every night. Why make it worse by introducing a place for them to meet up!!

The traffic light sequences on that roundabout have already been tampered with causing huge jams regularly. Also it would also be only a matter of time before a child from St James’ school gets knocked over and killed.

Superb get it built. All this negativity on everything

Yes, children. You go and play outside, visit your friends down the street, and be back home at tea time (sorry, dinner). Or don’t go out, its dangerous, only roads and strangers, so stay in your room and play on your smartphone. This is called making PLACES.
