Marketing Manchester refunds MIPIM delegates
The city promotional agency has issued refunds to members of the delegation it was due to take to the Cannes property expo in March, equating to around 40% of the cost of their packages.
Marketing Manchester told Place North West that the refunds were able to be issued after it was reimbursed from MIPIM event organiser Reed MIDEM.
Marketing Manchester had 95 companies signed as partners in its delegation and 200 individuals. MIPIM, which would have been held in the South of France from 10-13 March, was first postponed until 2-5 June amid the global coronavirus outbreak.
It was then combined with other related Reed MIDEM events in Paris as the health crisis deepened. Reed MIDEM had expected around 27,000 people to attend the show.
Marketing Manchester had offered several tiers of marketing package to delegates, ranging from £6,500 to around £18,000 depending on the access level and services.
The refunds processed represent around 40% of the cost of each individual package, according to Marketing Manchester, which declined to provide further comment.
Plans for MIPIM in 2021 remain to be decided, and Marketing Manchester expects to be guided by both its partners’ wishes and government guidance on large-scale events at that time.
