Manchester’s Barton Arcade gets new tenant

Fitness studio RYDE is opening a 5,000 sq ft gym at the grade two-listed shopping centre off Deansgate.

RYDE Manchester will be the brand’s flagship location when it opens on 18 March at Barton Arcade’s unit 15. RYDE specialises in exercise-bike-based workouts, as well as barre and yoga classes. The fitness centre already has a base in Leeds.

“The community we have created in Leeds has absolutely blown up and continues to grow month on month,” said RYDE founder Kyle Harris. “If we can get that side of our business right again in Manchester then exciting times are ahead.”

RYDE was advised by law firm Addleshaw Goddard in its lease with Barton Arcade’s landlord, Singapore-based VT Manchester Barton PTE.

Addleshaw Goddard corporate partner Carly Gulliver said: “Having personally experienced the excellence of the RYDE offering, we are delighted to assist Kyle and the team in taking it to a new audience.

“RYDE is an outstanding entrepreneurial brand that has already had a significant influence on the fitness and leisure sector, and we know this move will propel RYDE towards even greater success.”

Adam Mobley from WSB Property Consultants was RYDE’s agent on the deal, while VT Manchester Barton was represented by joint agents Graham + Sibbald and WT Gunson.
