Manchester City sets up shop in Arndale

The Premier League club has opened a 3,900 sq ft store inside the shopping centre, taking over the former Pink unit.

Manchester City’s Arndale location is the team’s second in Manchester, joining more than 200 shops and restaurants there. The club’s flagship store can be found at its home, Etihad Stadium off Ashton New Road.

The Manchester Arndale store will cater to the club’s fans, selling a range of merchandise from team kits to memorabilia.

Supporters will also have access to a variety of new digital activities within the store, including a ‘meet the players’ interactive video wall.

Perhaps most excitingly, the store’s opening will be celebrated with the display of Manchester City’s recently-won Premier League trophy over the weekend.

Serena Gosling, director of integrated fan experience and retail and licensing at Manchester City, said: “Our fans are at the heart of everything we do and we are delighted to offer more opportunities for fans to interact with the club beyond the Etihad Campus, including some engaging fan activities available in the new store.”

Stichd is the team’s retail partner, which has supported the opening of the unit.

Pete Emerick, licensing manager at Stichd, said: “As retail partner of the club for the past two seasons, we’ve experienced huge success together, breaking a number of sales records during that time.

“At Stichd, we put ‘fantricity’ at the heart of everything we do.

“We are proud to continue to develop a true omnichannel retail experience for City fans around the world and now in the centre of Manchester.”

Manchester City’s opening at Manchester Arndale follows the arrival of Sports Direct’s newly-opened flagship store, which spans 50,000 sq ft across five floors.

M&G Real Estate and Global Mutual are joint asset managers of Manchester Arndale. Metis Real Estate and Time Retail Partners are the centre’s retained letting agents.

Steve Gray, head of European retail asset management at Global Mutual, said: “The arrival of Manchester City demonstrates our commitment to delivering a vibrant retail destination that chimes with local shoppers as well as visitors from further afield who are looking to immerse themselves in the city’s culture.

“With such a significant name joining the centre it’s clear there is continued demand for well-placed retail units, and we are delighted to see confidence in Manchester Arndale’s long-term performance.”
