Liverpool tests MIPIM market with 25% sponsor price rise
Liverpool Vision issued its 2010 MIPIM package last night, asking £5,000 from private backers for the annual property pageant in Cannes, compared to a £4,000 fee for the March 2009 event.
The economic development agency will be hoping for more takers than this year, when only six firms stumped up the sponsorship fee as the recession bit hard.
The city is also competing with itself for support as it prepares to head off to Shanghai next spring for the six-month World Expo.
Liverpool's delegation to MIPIM 2009 saw Taylor Young, Langtree, Merepark, Castlewood Property Management, Uniform and Keepmoat on board as sponsors with further companies paying simply to attend without the added marketing exposure.
By comparison, 27 firms signed up in 2008 when a three-tier price structure of sponsor, partner and associate at £15,000, £9,000, and £5,000 respectively was in place.
When contacted by Place, the 2009 sponsors said they were digesting the details of Vision's proposal and had not committed to next year's event yet.
Mike Taylor, director of investment and enterprise, Liverpool Vision, said: "For everyone who attended in 2009 it was the best event to date. While numbers were down because of the economic downturn, it meant that there was a real concentration of business activity.
"Next year marks a significant opportunity for Liverpool and those organisations which support our on-going efforts to promote the city as a world class destination for investors and visitors."
