Liverpool FC draws up fresh Anfield Road plans
A fresh planning application for the redevelopment of the football club’s Anfield Road stand is set to come forward with “ambitious” new proposals now under consideration.
The club secured planning permission in 2014 to expand the Main Stand at Anfield stadium and an outline consent to add a further 4,800 seats to the Anfield Road stand.
While the additional 8,500 seats were added to the Main Stand, making it one of the largest all-seater single stands in European football, in 2017, the club will now let the Anfield Road consent to lapse in order to bring forward a new, larger expansion.
Community and fan engagement is now set to begin to inform the club’s fresh planning application.
Liverpool FC chief operating officer Andy Hughes said: “The progress that has been made during ongoing feasibility studies has resulted in us being in a position to allow the outline planning permission to lapse. We are committed to working with local residents, planning officials and others as we now focus on the detail behind any proposed redevelopment for Anfield Road.
“Throughout this process we have been clear that our objective is to find the best possible solution for Anfield Road and that remains the case.”
Architect KSS, landscape architect Planit-IE, and planning consultant Turley advised on the 2014 application.
This is just a part of the greater plan for the whole area, we will have to wait and see what else is included, but the increase in capacity is just a small component in the development for the neighbourhood.

@Liverpolitis We can but hope. Up to now the thinking has been small time and piecemeal. Maybe the recent victory parade will open Henry’s eyes to just what the potential of LFC truly is.

I was thinking more of the prposed Station?, WBR maybe improved or moved. The new Hotel, more shops and commercial properties etc, etc?

So was I. Transforming the area is a win win for both the club and the city.

Good news, and hopefully a train station to go with it.

A match day station could be built on Utting avenue, using the freight line to connect to Edge Hill. Its less than 1.3km away; but I am not really sure how well that would be used. Local fans would need a Merseyrail connection, and many others would need Lime Street, or connection to the airport. FSG have a record of doing their homework quietly; then acting; wont see a new stand open for five years.
