Leyland DAF land comes to market

South Ribble Council and Pilgrim Technology have appointed CBRE and Matthews & Goodman to market the former Leyland DAF site at Moss Side in Leyland.

The 130-acre site has been reserved by the local authority for a major mixed-use development to include housing, employment opportunities, a shopping centre and improved public open space.

The development brief for the site outlines potential for up to 850 homes, 54,000 sq ft business park, 247,500 sq ft of industrial space, and approximately 28 acres of open space, playing fields and playgrounds.

Steven Verity, director of residential at CBRE, said: "South Ribble Council and the Homes & Communities Agency are seeking a development partner in order to move the project onto the next stage. A masterplan of this scale will clearly have a significant impact on the surrounding area, providing much needed homes and boosting the local economy, so it has huge potential for any investor."

David Colvin, a senior executive in Matthews & Goodman's national business space team, adds: "This is a strategically important mixed use development opportunity. The positive co-operation between the owners, South Ribble and HCA has created an exciting major investment opportunity for the private sector which will help stimulate the local economy and generate community benefits for new and existing residents."

Caroline Hanratty, a partner in the real estate team at law firm George Davies, advised Pilgrim Technology on the joint venture agreement and will continue to act during the sales process.
