Law firms name Manchester partners

Eversheds and DAC Beachcroft grew their North West real estate departments with appointments including Dan Kendall and Dave Cogan in residential development at DAC Beachcroft, and two promotions.

Kendall was appointed residential development partner and Cogan joined as legal director, while Gemma Leonard relocated to Manchester from DAC Beachcroft’s London office this year to head the North West residential development team.

Kendall joins from Knights, where he was a partner. He previously worked as in-house lawyer for housebuilder Bovis Homes and joined DAC Beachcroft in May.

Cogan joined from his position as legal director at law firm Brabners, and was previously a principal lawyer with Manchester City Council working on major regeneration schemes in Salford.

Leonard said: “The North West residential market is a key target for us, which is why we have built a team with credibility, experience and knowledge of the local market.

“With this team, we have a great foundation to build our resi practice in the North West into one which rivals our presence elsewhere in the UK.”

Meanwhile, Claire Randall-Smith was promoted to partner in litigation construction at Eversheds Sutherland in Manchester, among a total of 38 partner appointments across the firm’s UK, Europe, Asia and South African operations in the first half of the year, including four in the Manchester office.

Randall-Smith spent 12 years as an associate at DAC Beachcroft before joining Eversheds in 2018 as principal associate. She specialises in the resolution and avoidance of high value, technically complex, construction and engineering disputes, acting for contractors and subcontractors across large-scale infrastructure projects, energy and utility projects.
