Knowsley picks Conlon for recreation centre
Conlon Construction won a £1.2m contract to build a leisure centre in Prescot for Knowsley Council.
The 5,000 sq ft single storey centre will contain a fitness suite, dance studio, changing areas, bar and kitchen. One of the existing outdoor football pitches will be converted to an all-weather five-a-side complex.
Since 2010, Conlon has completed the £3.3m Faith Primary School in Everton, for the Archdiocese of Liverpool, Diocese of Liverpool and Liverpool City Council and the £4.2m St Michaels and All Angels school in Kirkby, for the RC Archdiocese of Liverpool, as well as three projects for Sefton Council: the new £5.1m Netherton Activity Centre, £1.65m Thornton SEN College and a £1.6m extension at Aintree's Davenhill Primary.
Michael Conlon, director, said: "We like to get involved in community projects close to our sites whenever possible and look forward to continuing this with further work in the area in the near future."
Andrew McCormick, service director for well-being services at Knowsley Council, added: "This new leisure centre is part of a multi-million pound project to replace and upgrade leisure facilities right across the borough. We're determined to create the very best facilities for local people."
