John Turner continues NHS wins
Contractor John Turner has been selected to build a 32-bed low secure unit at Calderstones Partnership NHS Foundation Trust in the village of Whalley near Clitheroe, Lancashire.
Maplewood 2 will cost £5.5m and contain 33,000 sq ft of assessment and treatment facilities for people with learning and associated disabilities.
Work will start on site this month and John Turner intends to complete the project by July 2013. The project's architects are Condy Lofthouse and the quantity surveyors are Howard Grady Associates. The single-storey building has been designed to achieve a BREEAM rating of 'excellent'.
David Young, acting chief executive of Calderstones Partnership, said: "We are very pleased to be working with John Turner again as we know from experience they are excellent partners, a pleasure to work with and will deliver a first class scheme on time and in budget."
John Clarke, managing director of John Turner, said: "We have worked on this site for Calderstones Partnership NHS Foundation Trust previously in the construction of the Women's Low Secure Unit and see this high profile project complementing our considerable portfolio in the mental health sector."
