Investment search for Bowring Park golf course continues
Knowsley Council is still searching for a partner to invest and develop its 18-hole Bowring Park golf course and associated amenities based in Huyton, Liverpool.
The council went through a tendering process to comply with European regulations [as first revealed in Place 27.04.2009] but the deadline for that was 12 June this year.
The council wanted a long-term investor and have since brought the number of interested organisations down to four and hope to whittle that figure down further to one or two early next year to work with.
A deal is unlikely to take place without the involvement of the Friends of Bowring Park group, which was formed to protect the park.
The names of the four organisations interested in investing and developing the 129-acre site were not revealed.
Development of the car park, reception area, changing accommodation and club house and several outlying buildings, as well as the golf course is required.
Bowring Park is the oldest public park in Knowsley originally forming the heart of the ancient Roby Hall Estate.
