Investar unveils 149 Trafford flats
The developer has lodged plans to build an apartment scheme next to Oakland House on Talbot Road in Stretford, after buying the 40,000 sq ft site from XYZ Properties last summer.
If planning permission is granted, Manchester-based Investar Property Group plans to appoint a contractor by the end of this year.
Construction is scheduled to begin in early 2021, with completion due at the end of 2022.
Designed by Tim Groom Architects, the apartments, close to White City, would be split across two buildings of six and 11 storeys.
Investar bought the site from property management company XYZ last June.
The existing office buildings on the site would be demolished under the plans, but a Victorian Villa on the site would be retained and refurbished after being used as a site office for the project team.
Michael Dong, chief executive of Investar, said: “The best development comes from a fluid process of assessment and evaluation, understanding the needs of the community and the role of residential in creating the best places where people feel comfortable, happy and at home.”
Tim Groom, director at Tim Groom Architects, said: “We’ve worked very closely with Trafford Council to design something that fits with the new aspirations of the borough.
“The design process has been challenging but we have had positive collaborative dialogue with the planning department that has resulted in a development all parties can look forward to delivering.”
Avison Young is the planning consultant for the scheme.
The project team also includes Scott Hughes Design, Zerum MEP and Rider Levett Bucknall, as well as BB7 Fire, Curtins, Randall Thorp and Gray Scanlan Hill.
Donald Insall Associates, Wardell Armstrong and BWB Consulting, alongside Bowland Ecology Urban Microclimate, Cushman & Wakefield and JMW Solicitors, are also consulting.
In May, Investar submitted detailed plans to redevelop part of the Stockport College campus into a mixed-use scheme containing 442-apartments.
