Marketing + Communications

What tools can you add to your marketing arsenal in 2024?

It seems like we do this around this time every year, doesn’t it? Well, we’re not breaking with tradition and as usual, we’re kicking off the new year with a few marketing tips to set you on the right track.

I don’t know about you but 2023 has been a pretty crazy one for us with 2024 shaping up to be huge. With the industry busy, its time to ride the wave and make the most of it. To do that, you’ll need to get ahead of it and be ready when that big wave comes.

Here’s a few quick and easy things you can do to add some marketing strings to your bow in 2024.

  1. Leverage testimonials: Encourage your clients to share their experiences with your products or services on social media. This not only increases engagement but also builds trust with potential clients as they see real people benefiting from your offerings. Your website is a great place for these.
  2. Focus on SEO and content marketing: Regularly update your website with keyword-rich content like blogs, case studies, and whitepapers. This improves your search engine ranking and positions you as a thought leader in your industry. Plus, this content can be repurposed for your client emails and social media posts.
  3. Explore podcasting: Consider starting a podcast related to your industry. This can be an effective way to reach a broader audience, showcase expertise, and discuss industry trends. It also provides content that can be repurposed for blog posts or social media.
  4. Embrace data analytics: Use data analytics tools to analyse your marketing efforts. Understanding what works and what doesn’t allows you to make informed decisions and allocate your marketing budget more effectively.
  5. Community engagement and CSR: Get involved in community projects or corporate social responsibility initiatives. This not only contributes positively to society but also enhances your brand image and can be a powerful part of your marketing narrative.
  6. Host webinars or online workshops: These can be great tools for engaging with your clients and providing them with valuable information. It positions your brand as helpful and informative, building loyalty and trust.
  7. Start a client email: A consistent client email is a great way to keep your target market and client base up to date with your business. Not only does it give you the chance to get some important messages across, but it also has the passive effect of keeping the channels of communication open between your business and your target market.
  8. Make use of more video: Videos are a bit more of a time investment than your everyday online content, but their efficacy can’t be questioned. All the evidence shows that videos on webpages and social media drive better engagement than images, are treated more favourably by the social media algorithms and offer better opportunities for you to communicate your brand characteristics.
  9. Seek a better understanding of your current and potential clients: If there’s one thing you do next year, make it this one. Getting a solid understanding of your audience and how they feel about your brand is one of the single most powerful things in marketing. Often, your intuitions about how they feel about you can be wrong and only by finding out how they really feel can you begin to address any problems. Ultimately, the results of this exercise will inform everything you do in a marketing sense, giving you a solid foundation on which to build the rest of your marketing strategy.
  10. A quick bonus tip: Of course, if you have the means to do it, bringing in some external marketing support will free you up to do what you do best (let’s be honest architects, engineers and developers et al don’t go into business to be marketers) while ensuring the quality of your marketing is delivered professionally and effectively.
