Seeing the light: how Identity Consult helped Assura save £160k on energy bills

The commitment to meet net zero targets and improve EPC ratings against a backdrop of the rise in energy prices and current market conditions is creating a significant challenge for clients operating large estates. This means that client organisations across all sectors are having to consider innovative solutions to meet these challenges.

Through our IC Advisory service, we recently provided procurement and technical advisory services to Assura to establish a four-year LED framework.

In partnership with the Assura team, Sigma RJ, FES Lighting and Quartz Electrical, the team delivered LED upgrades to over thirty sites across the UK in a challenging timescale of three months, through a £1.2m investment. Across the 30 medical centres, savings of an estimated £158,950 will be made on the practices’ annual energy bills. This project was key to delivering on Assura’s commitment to target an EPC rating of B or better across their portfolio and drive innovative energy solutions for customers through the use of appropriate technology.

The existing team are building on the success of this initial phase to roll out further LED upgrades to Assura’s GP medical centres across the UK.

Our IC Advisory team have used the lessons learned and successes from this roll-out to establish LED lighting and PV installation frameworks within the education and wider public and private sectors.

Paul Warwick, Assura’s director of technical projects, said: “We are committed to a net zero carbon portfolio and that starts with making our existing buildings more energy efficient. Identity Consult through their IC Advisory service, in partnership with Sigma RJ and our Contractor partners FES Lighting and Quartz Elec have been instrumental to the success of the pilot projects and we look forward to working with them to further reduce the carbon footprint of our portfolio.”
