Don’t risk striking the wrong note in your Christmas campaign

This year calls for a more measured approach in your Christmas Campaign whilst helping a chosen charity

Christmas 2022 is just around the corner and let’s be honest, times are tough for many. We’ve crashed out of a covid Christmas right into a cost-of-living Christmas. As families and businesses all around the country feel the pinch of inflation, energy bills and stampeding mortgage rates, it’s more difficult than usual to get into the festive cheer.

What does this mean for your Christmas Campaign?

With everything going on this year, an understated message is in order. With many finding the economic climate difficult, displays of opulence and excess send the wrong message.

Luma always recommends that our clients select a charity for their Christmas campaign and this year that’s doubly as important. If you’re able to, 2022 is a fantastic time to pick a worthy charity and spread some of that Christmas cheer. In this short blog, we’ve put together a list of some great charities you can support.

The Wood Street Mission

This wonderful Manchester and Salford-based charity has released its plans for Christmas 2022. By donating toys and gifts you’ll be helping local needy families provide gifts for their children this Christmas. They’ve provided handy gift ideas and wish lists to make it as easy as possible to donate.

Wellspring

The Stockport-based charity supports people that are homeless or at risk of losing their homes. They provide the resources, understanding and care vulnerable people need inside the community we all share. While they haven’t released a specific Christmas campaign yet, there are opportunities to support them year-round with fundraising events and donations.

Bruntwood Wishing Tree

The Bruntwood-led Wishing Tree initiative aims to collect 2,500 gifts before donating them to worthy establishments across the North West. With their 2022 Christmas campaign set to launch in the next few weeks, you can help out by donating an item from their wish list.

The Lighthouse

The Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity is the only charity that provides emotional, physical and financial well-being support to construction workers and their families. They receive no public funding and rely on the generosity of those within the industry to help them continue their vital work.

There are many different ways you can show your support for them this Christmas.

The Trussell Trust (Manchester Foodbank)

With many families struggling in the wake of the cost of living crisis, one of the best ways you and your business can help lessen the load is through donating to the Manchester Central Foodbank. Your donations and time will go towards helping local people in crisis. Find out you can support them here.

Cash for kids mission Christmas

Cash for Kids Mission Christmas will be back in November with a specialist branch for Greater Manchester. With Christmas being a luxury some families just can’t afford, the Mission Christmas initiative is a great way you can help provide gifts for needy Children all over the country.

Santa Dash

Organised by the Romiley, Marple and District Lions Club (RMDLC), the Santa Dash is a charity fun run for all the family (and your business) and will take place on December 4th 2022. You’ll need to don your best Santa outfit as well as pay the £10 registration fee. The money will go towards helping needy members of the local community.

Lifeshare

Supporting vulnerable people in Greater Manchester for 35 years, Lifeshare serves breakfasts and lunch to the city’s homeless population. Every Christmas they provide Christmas dinners via their Christmas project, with over 151,000+ delivered over the last 30 years. You can find out how you can help here.

The Mustard Tree

The Mustard Tree is a well-known Manchester-based charity dedicated to preventing poverty, inequality and homelessness. They’ve released their Winter Wish List where you can donate food and money to help those affected by the cost of living crisis.
