GVA Grimley markets Northwich Victoria ground

Joint fixed charge receivers Deloitte have appointed GVA Grimley to sell the Marston's Arena football ground, home to Northwich Victoria FC, after owner Beaconet was forced into receivership.

Northwich Victoria still plays its home games at the ground, which is for sale along with the surrounding 9.2 acres, and the club hopes to carry on using the ground after the sale.

Steven Tasker, associate director at GVA Grimley, said: "Marston's Arena is an excellent facility and would be the ideal location for a University or Sports Club seeking news facilities, or for an existing Football Club looking for a new stadium or training ground. It features all of the necessary requirements for a modern club, as well as the capacity to extend. Offers are currently being sought for the freehold interest of the stadium and we are extremely optimistic about the interest levels to date."

The 5,000 capacity stadium has 1,200 seats in the Victoria Stand and capacity for 2,900 standing spectators in the Dane Bank stand. Both stands are covered and face each other on opposite sides of the pitch. There are additional open-ended terraces at each side and substantial boundary walls surrounding the stadium.

As well as the usual changing and treatment rooms the ground includes restaurants and bar areas, car parking facilities, offices and six executive boxes.

There are also development opportunities on site. A further two planning consents are in place for two all-weather pitches and a two-storey building for changing accommodation for these additional pitches.

Marston's Arena is situated just outside Northwich in Wincham, with easy access to the A556, which links directly to the M6 at Junction 19.
