Greengate tower approved

The development of a 300-apartment 34-storey block has been approved by Salford City Council’s planning committee, alongside 750 homes across three other schemes.

Proposed by developer Silverlane, and designed by Jeffrey Bell Architects, the tower will be called Norton Court.

The development will replace a surface car park near to the River Irwell and Abito Building with two residential towers, of 34 and 14 storeys, and includes landscaping and basement parking.

Norton Court will provide 300 apartments, through a mix of one, two and three bed units, totalling 275,000 sq ft. There will also be 5,000 sq ft of commercial space.

Additionally the development will link into the riverside walkway along the River Irwell which runs to the north east of the site.

Indigo Planning advised on the application.

Other members of the consultant team include Royal Haskoning, Croft Transport Solutions, TACE and WML Consulting.

At the planning committee on Thursday 3 December, the committee approved 107 homes at Agecroft Road by Bellway and the Manchester Great New & Central Synagogue, 383 apartments in a seven-storey scheme at Adelphi Street by Beaumont Morgan Developments, and 250 flats across a six-, eight- and 18-storey building in Hulme Street, submitted by Mr and Mrs Mark Henry Sutcliffe.
