Gosselin chooses Blackburn for UK debut
The largest manufacturer of laboratory Petri-dishes in Europe is establishing its first UK base in Blackburn, creating 37 jobs.
The French company holds a 50% market share of the European Petri-dish market. It will use the UK as a base from which to extend market share within Northern Europe.
The North West Development Agency is putting £290,000 towards the £1.9m inward investment.
Mark Hughes, NWDA economic development director, said: "Establishing a UK base within East Lancashire will contribute towards Blackburn's vision for a biomedical cluster, strengthening supply linkages within the region as a result of this important investment.
"Gosselin is a well established company that has extended rapidly since the late 1960s – with the NWDA grant it will continue to increase market share, creating further jobs in the future."
Thierry Van Twembeke, managing director of Gosselin, said: "Our market leader position is not the end of its changes, it help us in building new partnerships day after day with key players of our industry. Our strategy will allow reaching the following objectives – increase the global market shares; reinforce the development of new products and increase our international brand-awareness."
