GMPVF finishes new Oldham offices
Greater Manchester Property Venture Fund, which manages pension investments on behalf of the ten boroughs' council workers, has completed its 35,000 sq ft speculative office Kings Point in Oldham.
GMPVF hopes the new space will halt business migration to Manchester city centre. The four-storey building received a BREEAM 'very good' rating and British Council for Offices Grade A specification.
Nick Whipp, director at GVA Grimley and chief advisor to the GMPVF said: "Following a rolling programme of regeneration in Oldham, Kings Point has delivered a Grade A office facility that is much needed in the area. The town has witnessed a notable improvement in its education facilities and residential schemes over the last couple of years, which has ultimately impacted on the type of businesses attracted to the area by the promise of a strong and diverse labour pool."
Ray Granger, head of pension fund legal at the GMPVF, added: "The GMPVF identified Oldham town centre as a key area that was void of any high quality office accommodation. Recent regeneration in the centre and much improved transport links presented a unique opportunity to deliver an exciting new office scheme to cater for growing demand. We believe that Kings Point, which now stands proudly on King Street, is a building that demonstrates the progress that the area has made over recent years."
