Gleeson given Preston go-ahead

An 18-acre plot off Bartle Lane can be redeveloped into 108 homes following city council approval.

Gleeson Homes has secured planning consent for a mix of one- to four-bed homes after Preston’s planning committee voted in favour of the proposal.

Of the 108 homes, 76 would be available on the open market while 36 would be offered up on affordable tenures.

There are 15 different house types proposed within the scheme including detached, semi-detached, and maisonettes.

The site already benefitted from outline consent and forms phase two of a wider 275-home neighbourhood.

Hollins Homes secured that approval prior to entering administration, at which point Gleeson stepped in.

Plans for the 80-home phase one were approved last year.

Following last week’s decision, 188 of the 275 homes have consent.

PWA Planning advised Gleeson on the plans, Urban Apex provided design advice. To learn more, search for reference number 06/2025/0637 on Preston City Council’s planning portal.
