Former Bury garage set for synagogue overhaul

Approval would see the now-vacant site of the Texaco petrol station on Bury Old Road in Prestwich replaced by the 15,700 sq ft building, featuring a kosher food retail unit.

Debtal Architecture has designed the project, which would be set across three floors.

Visitors would find 5,900 sq ft of retail space on the ground floor, before travelling upwards to the 1,500 sq ft synagogue on the first floor.

A 180 sq ft office and 2,700 sq ft of storage space would also be created on the first floor.

A further 5,500 sq ft of storage space would occupy the basement.

Visitors would be provided with 13 car parking spaces, including two disabled, as well as five cycle hoops.

RPS is the scheme’s planning consultant.

This place is approximately where my Mum and her large Jewish family (Landsman’s) lived in Manchester. I am VERY INTERESTED to hear what’s going on
