Formby site secured by Barratt

The Manchester office of property consultancy GL Hearn has secured a site in Formby for potential future residential development by Barratt Strategic.

Acting on behalf of Barratt Strategic, GL Hearn initially identified the 30-acre site located at the north of Liverpool Road and negotiated terms for the option to buy the site from the current landowner T.R. Silcock.

Matt Tunley, strategic land director at Barratt Strategic, said: "As part of their appointment, the team provided comprehensive planning advice on policy, promotion strategy and also advised on the selection and instruction of the consultant team. With the site now secured we will continue to work with GL Hearn to draw up a strategy to promote the site for a residential allocation via the local authorities local development framework."

Richard Heathcote, associate director at GL Hearn, added: "We see now as a good time to invest, in conjunction with our developer partners, in large strategic sites of this kind which will provide important contributions to the regions housing land supply in future years. By bringing potential sites to developers, that we consider to have a good planning opportunity and having identified a planning strategy at the outset, we have been able to provide a unique service and we are now working with active housebuilders on both a regional and national level."
