Flintshire gives nod to 1.1m sq ft industrial
Pochin Goodman will start work early next year to deliver five employment units on the former Corus Garden City site off Welsh Road, part of the wider Northern Gateway site.
Flintshire Council approved the developer’s plans for the 89-acre plot at its planning meeting yesterday. The decision was made in line with officer recommendations.
Designed by AEW Architects, the scheme will create a total of 1.1m sq ft of industrial and storage space across the five units.
The largest units will measure 491,200 sq ft, 387,800 sq ft, and 113,400 sq ft, while the smaller units will provide 56,600 sq ft and 37,000 sq ft of space.
It is anticipated that the scheme will create more than 1,000 jobs, with a manufacturing firm already ear-marked to fill one of the units.
Forming part of the larger Northern Gateway masterplan, the units will sit next to the former Airfields site. The wider project includes plans for a total of 2.4m sq ft of employment space and 725 homes.
Spawforths is the scheme’s planning consultant. Also on the project team is Curtins, Arcadis, SGi Consulting, Cundall, Phlorum, BWB, Mood Landscape, and Tyler Grange.
