Five Guys comes to Liverpool
Promenade Estates has announced burger restaurant Five Guys as its first tenant in the reconfigured former Rat & Parrot pub in Liverpool’s Queen Square.
Five Guys will take the 3,850 sq ft unit on the ground floor of the building for its first restaurant in Merseyside, alongside two other North West venues in Ashton-under-Lyne and the Trafford Centre, Manchester.
The restaurant is known for its casual fast-food mantra, as well as its freshly made, fully customisable burgers, hand-cut fries and milkshakes. The brand has opened 31 restaurants in the UK since 2013.
It will join Nando’s, La Tasca and Buffalo Jacks amongst the restaurant offering at Queen Square.
The Rat & Parrot site on the corner of Whitechapel and the bus gyratory has been empty for more than three years.
Promenade announced a £1m project to convert the building into three units in July, designed by DK Architects. The scheme see the installation of a new façade on the 14,500 sq ft building with perforated aluminium cladding and glazing, with incorporated LED lighting to use the building’s prominent corner location.
Five Guys is due to open in time for Christmas.
Savills and Mason Owen represented Promenade.
Daniel Hynd, managing director of Promenade Estates, said: “We’re thrilled to announce that Five Guys will be one of the new tenants for Queen Square. It’s an exciting, family-run brand that have taken off as one of the most successful restaurant brands in the world.
“The success of the high-end burger market shows no sign of slowing down and Five Guys is one of the most famous ambassadors of high quality burgers. Queen Square is a great long standing location for restaurants in Liverpool, and the addition of Five Guys further adds to the eclectic mix of food offers already in the square.”
