Familiar names return for Manchester MIPIM 2017 line-up

The Manchester at MIPIM Partnership has revealed its full schedule of events for the international property exhibition in Cannes, held from Tuesday 14 to Friday 17 March.

Manchester has expanded its presence at the conference, taking a pavilion alongside the Palais des Festivals for the first time, and operating an event space, exhibition space and the Manchester Café.

Last month it was announced that 112 organisations had signed up to the partnership, the largest delegation in its 18-year history.

Manchester will play a central role in the MIPIM City Investment Forum on Tuesday 14 March. Held in the Grand Auditorium in the Palais des Festivals, a keynote address will feature Sir Howard Bernstein, chief executive of Manchester City Council; Marty Edelman, executive chairman of Manchester Life Development Company; and Sir Edward Lister, chairman of the Homes & Communities Agency.

Moderated by global cities expert Greg Clark, the panel will explore the strategic planning and partnerships that have guided Manchester’s approach to urban regeneration and development.

Greg Clark will also join the Manchester Pavilion for a series of breakfast sessions featuring UK and European speakers. Focussing on the themes of Brexit, housing, and science respectively, the events will welcome senior speakers from Greater London Authority, Stockholm Business Region, City of Amsterdam, Berlin’s Tegal Projekt GmbH and Barcelona City Council.

In the first of the morning stand sessions, held at 10:30am each day, Eamonn Boylan, recently named chief executive of Greater Manchester Combined Authority, will be joined by Steve Rumbelow of Rochdale Council and Theresa Grant of Trafford Council in a presentation on the Greater Manchester Industrial Strategy.

The Wednesday morning stand session will provide an update on Manchester Place from Paul Beardmore, alongside Gavin Taylor of Far East Consortium International, and Jon Matthews from 5plus Architects. On Thursday, John Hughes of Ask Real Estate will present alongside Ian Simpson of SimpsonHaugh on the upcoming scheme at Manchester Central.

Afternoon stand sessions at 3:45pm each daywill provide updates on three of Manchester’s ongoing developments. On Tuesday Bruntwood’s Chris Oglesby will be joined by Select Property Group’s Ken Knott and Helen White to discuss the latest on Circle Square, while Wednesday will see Gary Neville return to MIPIM to talk through progress on St Michael’s.

On Thursday a virtual tour will go through Allied London’s latest plans for St. John’s, including an overview of The Factory.

There will also be events held each morning and afternoon co-ordinated by Manchester at MIPIM partners. Topics include an update on the Mayfield development, investment in Manchester, and the cultural strategy of the city.

In total, the programme is made up of 23 events. The full schedule is available at www.manchesteratmipim.com/mipim-schedule.

All Manchester stand sessions will be streamed live from the Manchester Pavilion at www.manchesteratmipim.com.

I’m not sure what the cost v benefit is for these partners, i find doing the event independently gives you just as much for half the cost event is there is a big Pavillion.

Whole thing is a bunch of nonsense. ‘Just back from MIPIM, bloody brilliant’. ‘Meet anyone decent?’ ‘Yeah, met x and x from x (work in Manchester) and the Mayor of Dewsbury is going to put in a good word for us about the Library tender’……………………….. Cosmic!
