Everyman Cinema to open at ABC Buildings

Allied London has confirmed Everyman Cinema will open at the ABC Buildings in autumn 2019 as the operator becomes the second leisure tenant to sign up at the building.

Taking 10,500 sq ft, Everyman will operate three screening rooms along with a bar and restaurant at the former Astley & Byrom House, which is currently undergoing a fit-out.

The move by Everyman follows the opening of another site in Greater Manchester in Altrincham, while the operator will also open at Liverpool’s Metquarter in time for Christmas.

Everyman is the second leisure tenant to sign up at ABC following boutique gym Barry’s Bootcamp, which has taken 5,500 sq ft. Commercial tenants at the building include post-production company The Farm in a 25,000 sq ft space and the building contains a total of 130,000 sq ft of offices and studios.

Rochelle Silverstein, associate director of retail & leisure for Allied London said: “Everyman are a perfect fit for our growing community of occupiers at ABC as part of Enterprise City. Their offer gives cinemagoers a complete experience and reflects the type of original and quality leisure operators that will cement St. John’s as a destination for culture.

“Everyman at ABC will also complement our growing media cluster, which includes The Farm Group, Booking.com and All Studios; we are now well on our way to building another dynamic and creative neighbourhood for the city.”

Michael Ingall, chief executive of Allied London added: “Situated at the crossroads of our two neighbourhoods, Spinningfields and St. John’s – and so close to the expanding Castlefield area – it’s great to introduce Everyman and its unique style to this part of the city. Everyman is an experience that is especially relevant to what we do and who our developments attract.”

Levitt Bernstein is the architect for ABC.
