Dyer unveils renewable energy ventilation

Stockport-based Dyer Environmental Controls has collaborated with Salford University to develop a wireless, energy-efficient natural ventilation system that is due to be launched in the coming months.

Solis is a solar-powered window and roof light that can be opened remotely as part of the smoke and natural ventilation of a building.

Jon Crossley, managing director of Dyer, established in 1992, said: "Due for launch in mid-2011, the Solis will be relevant for both new build and retro-fit design and a significant addition to commercial and domestic applications."

The product was developed with the School of Computing Science and Engineering at Salford University.

Dyer supplies main contractors, glazing companies, mechanical and electrical service providers and building managers.

The Solis product will be launched at Greenbuild Expo in Manchester on 29 and 30 June.
