DTZI wins approval for Guardian Printworks
The investment manager has been given the go-ahead to build a 150,000 sq ft industrial unit at the former Guardian printworks site on Longbridge Road in Trafford Park.
In June, Trafford Council gave DTZ Investors, on behalf of its client the Strathclyde Pension Fund, the green light to start demolition of the 238,000 sq ft Longbridge Road unit, which used to house the Guardian newspaper’s printing press.
Plans for the redevelopment of the site, lodged in April, include the construction of a single large warehouse unit with a two-storey office block attached.
The facility would also feature a 15-dock loading bay and 137 car parking spaces. The scheme is being led by DTZI on behalf of Strathclyde.
Birmingham-based contractor DSM Group has been appointed to carry out the demolition of the printworks, which was used by the Guardian until January 2018.
Michael Sparks Associates is the planner and architect for the redevelopment. Barry Chinn Associates is the landscape architect.
Savills is the letting agent for the unit.
