DTZ Manchester awaits fate in latest job cuts

DTZ remained tight-lipped over whether its regional office would be affected by a round of 100 redundancies announced today across the UK business.

The company said it started consultation with staff on Monday and added in a statement: "We reiterated in our interim management statement of 17 September 2009, that we are continuing the implementation of a far-reaching cost-savings programme to deliver £50m of cost savings, on an annualised basis, by the end of our current financial year.

"We are making good progress towards achieving these savings. With current trading in line with market expectations, we must now ensure our cost base is appropriately structured, and the business is in the right shape, to drive our future success."

This is the latest in a series of cuts at the company in the past 18 months. In May 2009, 130 staff left the UK business including several in Manchester. Remaining staff had pensions and wages cut to help save costs.
