Downes secures spot on Langtree board

Josh Downes, whose father is chief executive John Downes, has been promoted after four years as senior development manager.

Downes will take up his spot on the board on April 1. Before joining Langtree in 2020, he spent four years with JLL.

“We have a demanding programme to drive through and real ambition to deliver on the regeneration and job creation that comes with it for our partners,” he said.

“I’m looking forward to welcoming new members to the team as the year unfolds.”

Downes’ promotion presages further recruitment to the development team as the company’s on-going and anticipated workload ramps up, according to Langtree chairman Tim Johnston.

“I’m delighted for Josh, who has demonstrated his ability and commitment on a range of key projects, such as Parkside, Hollinwood Junction, and Sci-Tech Daresbury.

“Our model of development partnerships with key public authorities is in greater demand than ever as the country seeks to utilise its brownfield sites whilst bringing its stock of industrial and commercial buildings up to standard.  Our expertise in delivering BREEAM ‘excellent’ buildings and meeting demanding ESG requirements has proven critical to our growth.”

Langtree’s public/private sector partnerships across the North West include:

  • Sci-Tech Daresbury, a joint venture with Halton Council and the Science & Technology Facilities Council
  • Parkside Regeneration, JV with St Helens Council
  • Wire Regeneration, JV with Warrington Council

Hollinwood, development agreement with Oldham Council

The next milestones for Langtree will see the firm submit a planning application for a 1.6m sq ft second phase of the Parkside logistics project, and deliver another 60,000 sq ft of lab and office space at Sci-Tech Daresbury.

Langtree also recently won consent for 190,000 sq ft of industrial units at Hollinwood Junction in Oldham and a new store for Lidl.
