DOMU Brands commits to Stakehill

The online products business has taken 110,000 sq ft within the 170,000 sq ft Phoenix building at Stakehill Industrial Estate for its new distribution centre.

The building is owned by national distribution firm Howard Tenens, which undertook a £4m refurbishment of the building within the popular Middleton location earlier this year.

The deal was brokered by industrial agency BC Real Estate. Director John Barton said: “For DOMU to commit to a building of this size shows the continuing attraction of Stakehill as a logistics and distribution location.

“It also shows that undertaking a quality refurbishment is the best option for landlords  – the risk Howard Tenens took investing the amount of money they did has certainly paid off.”

DOMU, which offers home and kitchen products under the VonHaus and VonShef brands, could expand into the rest of the Phoenix building in due course. The firm’s office team are based at Deva City Office Park on Trinity Way.

Gary Chapman, Barton’s co-director at BC, said: “Identifying this building gave DOMU the flexibility they required. Like a lot of fast-growing online retail companies, they were unsure of their size requirements over the medium term. Coupled with the excellent connectivity Stakehill offers, it’s the ideal solution at this point in time”.

Barton and Chapman both left WHR to set up BC in May 2016 as a niche industrial practice.
