Crewe consultation draws to a close

Consultation events will be held this week to help inform regeneration plans by Cheshire East Council for Crewe over the next 20 years.

The All Change for Crewe blueprint currently being drawn up aims to add £850m a year to the local economy by 2031.

Among the priorities are a revamped Crewe train station and town centre and the completion of the Crewe Green Link Road.

The closing date for feedback is 6 December and the final round of public consultation events will be held at:

  • South Cheshire College, on Monday 29 November, from 11am to 1pm
  • Crewe Railway Station, on Tuesday 30 November, from 8am to 11am
  • South Cheshire College, on Wednesday 1 December, from 5.30pm to 7.30pm
  • Crewe Library, on Thursday 2 December, from 2pm to 4pm

Among the questions the council is asking consultees are:

  • How important are improvements to the railway station for the revitalisation of Crewe?
  • Do you think the current range of shops, leisure and other facilities in Crewe town centre can be improved?
  • What is the biggest barrier to raising the aspirations of young people in Crewe?
  • How can public transport provision in Crewe be improved?
  • What is the best way of engaging business and residents in delivering regeneration through different projects and activities?

Cllr Jamie Macrae, Cabinet member with responsibility for prosperity, said: "Our ambition is to unlock Crewe's tremendous potential for future growth and prosperity – but we all need to get behind this project to make it happen."

Further details and an online questionnaire can be found at the All Change for Crewe section of the council's website.
