Costa joins Media City mix
Costa Coffee has signed a deal with Peel Media to open a new store at Media City UK, Salford Quays.
The Whitbread subsidiary will open a 1,500 sq ft unit on the ground level of Bridge House, one of the three buildings to be occupied by the BBC North from 2011.
Other retailers confirmed to take space at the £650m development include WHSmith and upmarket supermarket group Booths.
Bryan Gray, chairman of Peel Media, said: "Ensuring we have the appropriate blend of retail outlets at MediaCityUK is paramount to creating the right ambience and building a city environment. Costa is a well-known high street brand and we are pleased that they will be serving the needs of visitors, residents and employees at Media City UK."
Media City will be home to around 5,000 workers, students, residents and visitors when phase one is completed next year. This includes nearly 2,300 BBC staff, and 1,500 students and staff from the University of Salford.
Yet another coffee hurdle that separates me from the office during lunch breaks in this caffeine laden Media Metropolis of Salford Quays… I’m not complaining…
