Corn Exchange signs D’Acampo in latest restaurant deal
Italian chef and TV personality Gino D’Acampo has announced plans for a 250-cover restaurant within the refurbished Corn Exchange in Manchester, the first of two UK locations under the new My Restaurant brand.
Alongside the main restaurant space, the Corn Exchange venue will offer a sit-at cicchetti and kitchen bar, and two large outside areas, one of which leads onto Exchange Square, facing Selfridges and Harvey Nichols. The site is due to open in November.
The second My Restaurant will be within Euston train station in London.
For the launch of My Restaurant, D’Acampo has teamed up with Steven Walker, Individual Restaurants founder and owner of Piccolino and Restaurant Bar & Grill.
Aviva Investors and redevelopment manager Queensberry Real Estate are currently executing a phased opening of the £30m Corn Exchange, delivering a premium casual dining cluster centred around an internal atrium.
Restaurant occupiers due to open in the next couple of months include Wahaca, Mowgli, Byron, Salvi’s and Vapiano.
D’Acampo said: “I have been approached many times over the years to open restaurants, but it was Steven’s passion for Italian cucina, his eye for detail and his insistence that he would only partner me if I were truly involved, that attracted me finally to take the plunge.”
“I’m excited to be creating the new menus for the restaurant and I’m going to be including lots of favourites from my books and TV programmes.”
