Contract out for Warrington business incubator operator
Warrington Council has launched the search for a serviced office company to manage an £8.5m business incubator facility.
ISG is currently on site at the five-storey building, which is the first block to be built as part of the council's £190m Stadium Quarter scheme in Dallam Lane.
The incubator will provide work space specifically aimed at start-up businesses in advanced engineering and manufacturing.
When the facility is operational in summer 2015, it is expected to be capable of supporting up to 100 small businesses.
The council has appointed CBRE as agent to oversee the procurement process, which is open for tenders today. It is intended that eight companies will be shortlisted and a decision made in April.
Funding for the project has come from a £1.7m European Regional Development Fund grant and £6.7m investment from Warrington Council.
The Stadium Quarter scheme was announced by Warrington Council in March 2013 and is a joint venture with the Iliad Group. The project will connect the bus interchange with the Warrington Wolves' Halliwell Jones Stadium and create a mixed-use development comprising educational, business, leisure and housing.
Construction management of the incubator is being led by Faithful + Gould, part of the Atkins group. Falconer Chester Hall is the architect.
Warrington & Co will project manage the development.
The deadline for receipt of tenders via The Chest is the 6 February 2015.
