Consent expected for ECF’s £250m Stockport 8

Councillors have been recommended to approve the three-phased development, named after the eight acres on which it would stand.

Stockport Council’s central area committee will meet next week to debate the proposals.

ECF, the joint venture between Muse, L&G, and Homes England, is bringing forward the £250m plans for 1,328 homes in central Stockport over the next 10 years.

The first plot would site three detached blocks rising nine to 11 storeys, containing a total of 435 apartments with active ground floor commercial use spanning 9,500 sq ft.

Residences would be split across the three blocks, with the 11-storey building hosting 151 flats, the nine-storey build hosting 82, and the third and largest block delivering 202 apartments.

ECF appointed Vinci Construction in February to bring forward the £100m first phase plan.

Plots Two and Three both require a demolition of existing structures before homes can be built, and as such, ECF seeks outline permission only.

Plot Two would deliver 413 flats over roughly 11 storeys, and 3,900 sq ft of commercial space adjacent to Plot One.

Outline permission is also sought for a final 480 residences and a further 3,500 sq ft of commercial space across several buildings on Plot Three.

This section would host the tallest block, which could rise to 16 storeys with a view overlooking the Stockport Viaduct.

ECF expects the third and final phase to start in January 2032 and complete in June 2034.

The irregular site is bound by King Street West and Chestergate, and sits to the west of Stockport town centre, on the west side of the viaduct.

Shedkm has been appointed as the architect for the project, while Deloitte handled planning matters.

Pleasing thatthe council seem to not run scared of changing the view of the viaduct. Imagine what the naysayers would’ve said about the viaduct being built in the first place.

This is great but what about Stepping Hill Hospital it really needs to be bigger to support all these people. Can we have a hospital nearer the town centre also dentist,GP, school, people need a good support network near to them. It won’t work if this is not put in place

More high rise in the town centre, no parking .not for the people of stockport but for the people of manchester town centre whocan afford the house price and rents and what about the small business who have been there for years who have to relocate or closed down due the expense of moving.also but house price up for the surrounding areas forcing local people out

Just trying to process the idea that Manchester’s economic vibrancy spilling over to Stockport is a bad idea for some of the people in this thread.
