College to sell land for housing
Trafford College has put a prime residential site with planning permission for 70 houses on the market in Timperley.
The 5.7-acre plot next to Trafford College in Stamford Brook Road has outline consent for a mixture of units with three, four and five bedrooms. Planning permission was granted by Trafford Council in June 2012.
The Manchester offices of Colliers International and Guest Garsden have been appointed to handle the sale by informal tender on behalf of Trafford College, owner of the land, which is to the rear of the main campus.
Mike Brassington, director of Colliers International, said: "The site represents an outstanding development opportunity and will be of significant interest to housebuilders capable of providing a broad mix of family housing sympathetic to a well-established residential area.
"We anticipate a great level of interest from housing providers wanting to provide homes to address the shortage of new family properties in Greater Manchester and the wider North West."
John Broadbent of Guest Garsden said: "The South Manchester residential developer market has been eagerly awaiting the release of this high quality development site. We are therefore excited to be involved and expect intense interest from the market and ultimately bidding to be vigorous."
