Co-op Food to expand property team

Co-operative Food has launched a recruitment drive to boost its property team following the success of its acquisitions strategy over recent years.

The recruitment drive follows a record-breaking year for the Manchester-based property team, which saw over 83 new food stores launched across the UK.

This included acquiring the David Sands chain of 28 convenience stores in Scotland, plus ten former Costcutter stores across London.

The new roles include: Business Development Manager, Location Strategy & Analysis Manager, Construction Project Managers, Regional Acquisitions Managers, Location Planning Modelling Analyst, and Regional Location Analysts.

Building upon the success of last year, the successful recruits will be based both in Manchester and nationally, working within the property team to further The Co-operative Food's presence across the UK.

The Co-operative Food's acquisitions team has already doubled in size over the last 18 months as the team continue to build a pipeline of acquisitions.

It plans to launch around 100 new food stores per year, focusing primarily on the convenience sector.

Andrew Coles, national acquisitions manager at The Co-operative, said: "The Co-operative Food's property recruitment drive comes at an exciting time as we continue to expand our presence nationally.

"The successful candidates will work to foster good relationships locally to identify new business opportunities, and want to be part of truly sustainable business, which is renowned for its employer-employee relations.

"As one of the UK's largest private employers, we are committed to attracting the very best candidates to ensure we can continue to provide a fair deal for everyone, and allow the group to meet its ambitious growth plans for the benefit of its members and customers."
