Cleaveley joins Addleshaw Goddard

John Cleaveley has joined the law firm from Shoosmiths, where he headed up the Manchester office’s construction and engineering team.

He is continuing to advise on construction and engineering legal matters at Addleshaw Goddard, where he is a partner.

Cleaveley has more than 30 years of experience in law, having worked at Weightmans and Lendlease, in addition to his time at Shoosmiths. He has expertise in dealing with mixed-use, commercial, residential, and infrastructure projects.

“John is a heavyweight in the construction & engineering sector and another fantastic addition to our team,” said Jonathan Tattersall, head of construction and engineering at Addleshaw Goddard.

“Our global practice has grown exponentially over the last two years, now numbering over 30 partners and more than 100 specialist fee-earners.”

For Cleaveley’s part, he expanded on why he chose to join Addleshaw Goddard.

“The strength of the Addleshaw brand, the focus on growth and the size, quality and depth of the Manchester construction team and the wider national team were a real attraction for me,” he said.

“The firm has an amazing client base, a number of which are also clients of mine, so joining together made a lot of sense,” he continued.

“Everyone has been very friendly and welcoming, and I look forward to working with my new colleagues to deliver the excellent service AG is known for and which clients deserve.

Cleaveley will be based at Addleshaw Goddard’s Manchester office.
