Civic Engineers appoints FD as revenue rises by third
Structural engineering practice Civic Engineers has appointed Alistair Topping as its first finance director.
Topping joins the firm after 13 years at Deliotte where he advised owner-managed businesses throughout the North West.
The appointment comes as the firm, which also has offices in London and Leeds, posted a 33% rise in turnover to £4.5m for the year to the end of February 2018.
Projects worked on during the year include Rutland Mills in Wakefield; Park Hill in Sheffield; Cannon Green in the City of London and the conversion of the listed Mackie Mayor in Manchester city centre.
The year also saw Civic Engineers win the contract to design and deliver the Glasgow Avenues project which will see it redesign seven of Glasgow’s key city centre streets.
Founding director of Civic Engineers, Julian Broster, said: “Alistair’s appointment is an important step in the growth of our practice and he brings an essential balance of financial and commercial skills to our Board.
“We have had a couple of years of strong growth and we now seek to consolidate that growth and focus on our aim of designing and creating inspirational structures and public spaces, that have a positive impact on the environment and enable people to lead happier and healthier lives.”
