Change at the top for Network Space

Martin Mellor, managing director and mainstay of the industrial specialist, is to retire at the end of March, with Tom Dawson stepping up to MD.

Mellor will take up a non-executive director position with the firm .

He joined the Newton-le-Willows business, part of Network Space Holdings, in 1996 as development manager. During Mellor’s time with the company he has led each of its development, asset management and investment divisions.

Dawson, who joined as investment director in 2021, becomes managing director with property director Helen Gordon, who has been with the firm for 20 years, being promoted to board director.

Since joining the company, Dawson has been implementing NSI’s acquisition strategy which is focused on value-add industrial investment property across the North of England.

In the last two years, targeting well-located, single and multi-let opportunities, the team has acquired assets with a combined value in excess of £25m. This includes Europa Way in Trafford Park, a Threadneedle portfolio and a number of sale and leaseback transactions.

Gordon will continue to drive the rental and capital value of the NSI portfolio across its operating regions through pro-active asset management.

Mellor said: “It has been an absolute pleasure to work at Network Space for so many years and be part of its growth into what is now a nationally recognised and respected property company. As has been well documented, the industrial market has experienced an incredible shift in occupier and investor demand in recent years.

“I believe this is very likely to continue and Network Space is well positioned to capture opportunities which will no doubt present themselves in the future. Tom will lead a talented team who are very committed to the business and have vast industry experience.”

Dawson added: “We wish Martin the very best for his well-earned retirement, and I am sure we will continue to benefit from his expertise in his new role as non-executive Director.

“We have a well located and high-quality existing portfolio and looking ahead, are very confident about its future growth prospects. NSI remains focused on the acquisition of modern and sustainable real estate, in established locations, where we consider growth prospects will be strongest.”

Martin – enjoy your retirement. You have certainly earned it. Delighted to see the succession planning leaves the business in great hands.
Tom – best of luck. Big boots to fill, but you will certainly fill them admirably I have no doubt.
Kind regards both.

Delighted to see all that training we gave you at Bennett & Days many years ago was put to good use. Our loss was your company’s gain. Well done Martin. I feel sure David, Mel and the other David would join me in wishing you a happy retirement.
