Castle Green appoints financial controller

Julie Banham has been promoted after less than two years with the Wales-based housebuilder.

Banham joined Castle Green Homes in May 2021 as a management accountant and was promoted to financial controller last month. She has nearly 35 years of experience in accounting, having worked with Brenig Construction, Anwyl Homes, and Sage & Company in the past.

Banham will be based at Castle Green’s headquarters in St Asaph. As financial controller, she will lead the housebuilder’s six finance team staff members.

She described her responsibilities as follows: “I deal with everything from cash flow and forecasting to producing monthly management accounts, working closely with the BDO audit team and delivering information to the Deloitte tax team.”

Banham also has a personal tie to Castle Green’s products – her son’s first home was built by Castle Green.

“Castle Green was professional and committed during the whole process, which was great for an inexperienced first-time buyer,” she recalled.

“He was so pleased with the quality of his home and the service that he’s buying his second home from Castle Green,” she said.

Gwyn Jones, chief executive of Castle Green, praised Banham.

“Julie’s promotion is thoroughly deserved,” he said. “Her experience means she’s stepped into the role excellently and with ease.

“Julie is fantastic to work with and an asset to Castle Green.”

Current projects from Castle Green include plans to build 113 homes in St Asaph, 110 homes in Denbigh, and 200 homes in Sefton.
