Bury housing site comes to market
A housing site off Walshaw Road is set to hit the market after manufacturer Andrew Industries secured consent to demolish its industrial buildings and replace them with 108 houses.
The site was in active use as a textile mill until March this year, but the manufacturer said the buildings were “simply not suitable for modern manufacturing and as such have no future”.
In their place, the company has secured permission tor 108 homes on the six-acre site, which sits just outside Bury town centre. Gerald Eve advised the company on its application.
Following unanimous approval at Bury Council’s planning committee earlier this week, Gerald Eve’s development team will bring the site to market in the coming weeks.
Harry Spawton of Gerald Eve said: “We undertook wide-ranging technical reports to assess the viability of the site for housing and undertook pre-application engagement with the local community. The recycling of brownfield sites fully accords with National planning guidance and the thrust of the policies in Buy’s adopted Plan and we are delighted that the committee has given the scheme its unanimous support.”
The team on the project also includes Planit-IE; transport planner Croft; ecologist Tyler Grange; and E3P.
