Bowsall, MSV propose Eccles affordable homes

A site off Junction 11 of the M60 could be redeveloped into 42 social rent homes under proposals from the developer and the housing association.

Bowsall Developments and MSV Housing have jointly lodged plans to build a mix of one- and two-bedroom apartments in a four-storey block.

The scheme, which would provide 34 parking spaces, would be created on previously developed, vacant land off Reginald Street west of Eccles.

The development would go some way to addressing Salford’s affordable homes shortfall, which exceeds 600 units a year, according to a planning statement prepared by Hourigan Planning.

Watkiss Dawson & Ward is the architect advising the applicants on the proposals.

Social housing again, why? 1 step forward, 2 steps back

By Gentrify Salford

‘Social housing again, why?’

Why not? Successful cities have a mixture of social backgrounds, rather than just one.

Plenty of need for all forms of affordable housing here but particularly socially rented it all helps balance them books with all those schemes in the central urban area that can’t afford to provide any. People should be getting behind this!

Hope this development doesn’t jepodise the construction of the full WGIS highway scheme. The car park appears to encroach on the National Highways earthworks.

You’re missing the point, Salford is already served very well by social housing, it’s better housing that’s needed for a mix, you can’t be successful with just social housing

By That's the point

Successful cities have a lot more affluent people
