Confirmed speakers

Mike HarrisonMike Harrison is the chief operating officer at Concretene. The Nationwide Engineering Research & Development subsidiary is looking into how graphene enhancements can improve the sustainability of concrete, reduce curing periods, and increase compressive strength. Concretene is supported by the University of Manchester, Canadian supplier Black Swan Graphene, EMEA leading tech investor LocalGlobe, and Arup.

Justin Harley

Justin Harley is a regional director at Yardi. Yardi is a global leader in building management software. The company’s tools and systems manage more than 12m homes and nearly 130bn sq ft of commercial space. Harley brings to the table more than 20 years of experience in the built environment and will offer insight into how software is revolutionising the way we operate our buildings and portfolios.

Andy DoyleAndy Doyle is the innovation director at Grosvenor. Doyle will speak about how the prominent developer utilises new technology in its buildings and his role in empowering the business to experiment.

Laura SherlikerLaura Sherliker is a director at Fairhursts Design Group. She’ll be delivering an architect’s perspective on the challenges companies face when it comes to embracing innovation, as well as elaborating on the tech that actually works (rather than is just a fad) for forward-thinking studios like FDG.

Andy Sheppard, Arup, p ArupAndy Sheppard is an associate director of sustainable buildings at Arup. When it comes to innovation, Arup is on the front line. Sheppard is the global engineer’s North West and Yorkshire lead for sustainable buildings. His work focuses on carbon reduction, climate change resilience, and sustainability strategies. He’ll discuss how we can push the dial forward on change in the built environment.

Susan Patterson

Susan Patterson is the construction sector development manager at the Manufacturing Technology Centre. Patterson’s position means she is at the forefront of the emerging tech solutions coming to the built environment. The MTC’s Construction Innovation Hub experiments with the latest technology to see the best way to implement it in the workforce. This includes everything from robotic dogs to slightly less flashy BIM models.

Tom WillcockTom Willcock is the director of innovation at Hollis. His work at the chartered surveyor is focused on unmanned aerial vehicles – also known as drones. He will use his first-hand knowledge to speak about how the built environment can use technology like drones to optimise buildings and spot problems early on.
